1. How Do I Obtain A Certificate of Conduct?

Cash office is open 9:00am - 12:30pm and 1:30pm - 4:30pm weekdays (closed for all statutory holidays).

Closed for lunch daily 12:30 - 1:30.

For employment persons who require a criminal records screening certificate must complete the proper application form(s) and deliver in person to the Cash Office, Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, 1 Fort Townshend, St. John’s, NL A1C 2G2. Applicants must have two (2) valid pieces of identification, one of which must be government-issued and include the applicant’s name, date of birth, signature and photo.

This change does not apply to Criminal Record Screening Certificate/Vulnerable Sector applications received from Volunteer Agencies.

For those in living in Corner Brook or Labrador City detachment process remains the same.

2. Is There a Fee Charged?

The application must be submitted with a $20.00 fee (non-refundable) to the RNC Cash Office, at 1 Fort Townsend off Parade Street. Interact is available for your convenience.

Cash Office is open from 9:00am - 12:30pm and 1:30pm - 4:30pm weekdays.

3. How Long Will It Take To Receive My Certificate?

Processing will take 7 to 10 working days, excluding weekends & holidays; and they will be mailed to applicant via the Canada Postal mail service.

4. What is the Vulnerable Sector?

Vulnerable Sector Verifications is used to determine the possible existence of a criminal record and/or a sexual offence conviction for which an individual has received a pardon. In some cases, fingerprints may be required for submission to the RCMP National Repository of Criminal Records to complete the verification.

Any individual applying to work in a paid or volunteer position where they will be in contact with vulnerable person may be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Verification.(some examples: teachers, day-care workers, sport coaches and volunteers).

Those who will be required to be fingerprinted will be called by a staff member to advise them of same.

Fingerprinting for Vulnerable Sector will be available Monday – Friday 9:30am – 12:30pm and 1:30pm - 4:00pm; $25.00 fee is required for employment purposes in the form of cheque or money order and/or cash (interac is not available for this service to date).
