Weekend Robberies - Suspect in Custody

St. John's NL, January 18, 2010 - The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has arrested a 43-year-old male in connection with an armed robbery and two attempted armed robberies in St. John's.

(RNC File 2010-2828) - At 2:05 PM, Saturday, January 16, 2010 the RNC responded to an attempted armed robbery at Pharmachoice, 335 Water Street. It was reported that a male described as being approximately 6' 2" tall and wearing dark cloths entered the business, stated he had a gun and demanded drugs. After being refused he fled on foot.

(RNC File 2010-2839) - At 3:35 PM, Saturday, January 16, 2010 the RNC responded to an armed robbery report at Moo Moos, Kings Rd, St. John's. It was reported that a male entered the business stating he had a gun and demanded the staff pass over the stores cash. He fled on foot with an undisclosed quantity of cash.

(RNC File 2010-3077) - At 8:40 AM, today, the RNC responded to a reported attempted armed robbery at Pharmachoice, 39 Campbell Avenue, St. John's where a male had entered the business demanding to receive drugs. The male, armed with a knife, was unsuccessful and fled from the business.

The suspect in this crime was located on LeMarchant Road by a uniformed RNC Officer a short time after. He was taken into custody without incident. The 43-year-old male is expected to appear in St. John's Provincial Court later today when he will face charges.

The investigations are continuing.
