Applicant Requirements

To apply for the RNC Police Cadet Program, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status (must be officially obtained before graduation from Cadet Training Program);
  • Successfully completed high school (diploma, ABE or GED);
  • Must have or will have successfully completed a minimum of one academic year (7+ months) of post-secondary education from an accredited post-secondary institution by September of the application year (this does not include the CAS-Transition program from CNA) or, have completed a minimum one year of military service with Canadian Forces Primary Reserve or Regular Force;
  • Be at least 19 years of age by graduation from Cadet Training Program;
  • Meet physical requirements, RNC vision and hearing standards, and have no medical conditions that would impact the performance of police duties;
  • Possess an unrestricted driver’s license before commencement of the Cadet Training Program;
  • Must possess a valid Standard First Aid and CPR certificate;
  • Have no criminal convictions or findings of guilt that relate to integrity or the use of force, and/or have no criminal charges pending before the courts;
  • Have no involvement in any criminal activity;
  • Be of high morals and ethics.
