Applicant Requirements

The 2021 RNC Cadet Training Program is now OPEN. Applications will be accepted until midnight March 31, 2020 and MUST CONTAIN ALL REQUESTED DOCUMENTS in order to advance to the Screening Process. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED.

To apply for the RNC Cadet Training Program, applicants must meet ALL of the following requirements:

  • Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status (must be obtained and provided before graduation from Cadet Training Program)
  • Successfully completed high school (diploma, GED or ABE)
  • Successfully completed a minimum of ONE of the following before September of the application year:
    • One academic year (6+ months) of post-secondary education from an accredited post-secondary institution (this does NOT include the ‘CAS-Transition’ program from CNA)
    • One year of military service with Canadian (or NATO) Forces Primary Reserve or Regular Forces
  • Be 19 years of age upon graduation from the training program
  • Meet physical requirements, RNC vision and hearing standards, and have no medical conditions that would impact the performance of police duties
  • Valid unrestricted Driver’s License
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR certificate
  • No criminal activity, no criminal convictions or findings of guilt relating to integrity or the use of force, and/or no criminal charges pending before the courts
