Man Wanted for Murder Arrested

(St. John’s, NL) April 10, 2025 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) can confirm Ibrahim Hussein has been arrested.

Hussein was located by the RCMP in Port aux Basques and with the assistance of officers of the RCMP-RNC Joint Forces Operation West, arrested just before 12 p.m. today at the ferry terminal. The 19-year-old is facing charges of:

  • First Degree Murder
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Careless use of a Firearm
  • Breach of release order

The accused will be held to appear in Provincial Court in connection with the charges that stem for a shooting on Watson Street in St. John’s Tuesday night (April 8) where a 33-year-old man died of his injuries.

A second male has been arrested with charges pending. The RNC would like to thank the public and our partner agencies for their assistance with the investigation.
