Basic Qualifications
To be considered for the Experienced Officer Program at the RNC, applicants must:
- Currently serve or have served as a sworn police officer with full constable status in a municipal or provincial police service, or with the RCMP.
- Graduated from an accredited Police Academy Program.
- Be eligible for an honorable discharge from their current police service.
- Not have any criminal convictions for which a pardon has not been granted, nor have any ongoing criminal or internal investigations prior to receiving an offer of employment.
- Possess an exemplary police service record and performance history.
- Meet the RNC’s lateral entry requirements, including completing the application form, Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (PARE), interviews, polygraph testing, psychological and medical assessments, background investigations, and approval by the selection committee.
- Hold or be eligible to hold a valid Newfoundland and Labrador driver’s license with no restrictions and a clean driving record.
