RNC Arrest Impaired Driver in School Zone

(St. John’s, NL) November 5, 2024 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) arrested an impaired driver in a school zone in Mount Pearl.

Today, at approximately 8 a.m., Operational Patrol Services observed a vehicle travelling 92 km/hr in the Ruth Avenue school zone. The patrol officers conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle in a nearby parking lot.

Following an investigation, the operator of the vehicle, a 40-year-old man from Mount Pearl who was travelling with kids, was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and refusing a breath sample. He also had his vehicle seized and was issued Summary Offence Tickets for speeding, and operating a motor vehicle while suspended. The accused was released from custody to appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
