(St. John’s, NL) March 3, 2026 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has made an arrest following an assault in Conception Bay South.
On Feb. 22, Operational Patrol Services responded to a medical call at a home in Foxtrap where a woman was transported to hospital with serious injuries.
The Major Crime Unit and Intimate Partner Violence Unit were engaged and as a result of the investigation a 69-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm, failure to provide the necessities of life, and assault.
He was arrested yesterday (Mar. 2) and held to appear in court.
The RNC would like to remind the public that its Intimate Partner Violence Unit (IPVU) is a team of dedicated officers trained to assist and support victims and survivors of intimate partner violence. The IPVU investigates intimate partner violence matters, can explain the criminal investigation process, and help navigate the court process should complainants choose to pursue charges. They can also provide information on available resources, and help with safety planning, Emergency Protection Orders, and Peace Bond applications.
The IPVU can be reached by calling 709-729-8093 or by email at ipv@rnc.gov.nl.ca. If immediate assistance is needed, always call 911.
