RNC Charge Inmate at HMP with Attempted Murder

(St. John’s, NL), June 14, 2017 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has charged a 25 year old male inmate of Her Majesty’s Penitentiary (HMP) with Attempted Murder in connection with an assault that occurred at HMP on June 8, 2017.

On Thursday, June 8, 2017, the RNC received a complaint regarding an assault with a weapon that had occurred at HMP toward an inmate by another inmate. The alleged assault occurred during recreation time. The victim was seen and treated by medical staff at HMP and did not sustain life threatening injuries.

The man who was charged in connection with this assault will be appearing at Provincial Court tomorrow morning in St. John’s.
