RNC Charge Man with St. John’s Murders

(St. John’s, NL) December 12, 2025 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has charged a man with the murder of two men in St. John’s

On Dec. 1, Operational Patrol Services responded to a residence on Aldershot Street where officers located two men, ages 38 and 53, deceased inside. Working with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the deaths were determined to be homicides, with their injuries consistent with stab wounds.

As a result of an investigation by the RNC Major Crime Unit, 41-year-old Matthew Delaney was arrested yesterday (Dec. 11) at approximately 6:45 p.m. in the Water Street West area, and charged with two counts of murder. He was held to appear in court today.

The RNC is offering sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
