RNC Charges Man with Animal Cruelty

(St. John’s, NL), July 26, 2018 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary’s (RNC) Operational Patrol Services Division has laid animal cruelty charges in the Town of Conception Bay South (CBS).

On Wednesday, July 25, 2018, members of the RNC’s Operational Patrol Services Division responded to a complaint of animal cruelty in the Town of CBS. The Town of CBS’s Humane Services Division contacted the RNC about concerns for a dog belonging to a member in their community.

Humane Services Officers (HSOs) removed the dog from the home on July 23, 2018 after receiving a complaint from a member of the public. The HSO’s conducted a thorough investigation under the Animal Health and Protection Act. The dog is now in the care of the Town of CBS. As a result of the investigation the RNC has charged a 60 year old CBS man with one count of animal cruelty under section 446 of the Criminal Code. The man will appear in court at a later date.
