(St. John’s, NL), November 24, 2018 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Traffic Services Section is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred this morning just before 3:30 am in Mount Pearl.
This morning, just before 3:30 am, the RNC responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a taxi and a pedestrian. A taxi, which was headed east on Ruth Avenue, struck a 55 year old Mount Pearl man who appears to have been in the roadway at the time of the collision. The RNC regrets to advise that the 55 man died of injuries relating to this collision at the Health Sciences Center in St. John’s.
No charges have been laid at this time. Accident Investigators are continuing to investigate the cause of this fatal collision and are asking residents on Ruth Avenue who may have CCTV systems on their property to contact the RNC if they have any relevant footage. Additionally, anyone who may have witnessed this collision is asked to call the RNC at 709-729-8000.
