RNC Issue Multiple Tickets for Unsafe Off-Road Vehicle Use

(St. John’s, NL) May 20, 2025 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) seized two off-road vehicles and issued multiple tickets following a targeted enforcement initiative in the town of Torbay.

On Saturday, (May 17) RNC Traffic Services focused on illegal off-road vehicle use following complaints from the public. In a four-hour period, seven tickets were issued to adult riders for offences that include operating on a highway, operating an unregistered vehicle, and operating without insurance.

Additionally, an investigation is ongoing with criminal charges pending following the seizure of an abandoned all-terrain vehicle. This after the operator fled from officers. The machine which was located nearby has since been determined to have been reported stolen in 2016.

The RNC continues to urge the public to report unsafe driving directly to police by calling 911. To report anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or visit www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
