RNC Lay Charges in Missing Dog Case

(Corner Brook, NL) March 14, 2025 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) investigation into a report of a missing dog in Pasadena has resulted in charges.

In late October of 2024, RNC Operational Patrol Services received a report that a dog had gone missing from a home in Pasadena. That dog was later located deceased. The RNC Criminal Investigation Division were engaged to support the investigation.

Earlier this week, a young person was placed under arrest and charged with the following offences:

  • Theft under $5,000.
  • Willfully and without lawful excuses kills, maims, wounds, poisons or injures a dog, birds or animals that are kept for a lawful purpose.
  • Willfully causing unnecessary pain, suffering or injury to an animal.

The accused has been released to appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
