(ST. JOHN’S, NL), October 10, 2019 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) are participating in Operation Impact, which is a nation-wide initiative focusing on traffic safety compliance.
This Thanksgiving weekend, October 11 to October 15, 2019, your RNC Traffic Services and Operational Patrol Services Division will be engaged in a collaborative effort to monitor traffic in our communities as a part of Operation Impact. With a zero-tolerance approach to enforcing non-compliance of the rules of the road in our province, this effort is focused on increasing awareness around the responsibility of motorists when getting behind the wheel.
We know that aggressive driving and distracted driving dominate the conversation when it comes to issues faced within our communities on a daily basis. In addition, impaired driving continues to happen, regardless of the knowledge we have today that this activity literally puts lives in danger. Operation Impact will see increased patrols, concentrating on vehicle operation which poses a risk for our friends, families, and neighbours.
As part of Operation Impact, our communities can expect to see vehicle checkpoints in random locations, as well as other enforcement activities throughout this Thanksgiving weekend. Have an enjoyable Thanksgiving weekend, and be safe!
