(St. John’s, NL) January 21, 2025 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is looking to locate a man wanted in connection with a renovation and repair scam on the Northeast Avalon.
The RNC has received multiple reports of a male soliciting services, including home renovation, driveway repair, and other property maintenance, who takes a deposit and does not return to provide the service. An arrest warrant has been issued for 64-year-old James Dwyer of St. John’s who is wanted in connection with these offences.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Dwyer is asked to contact RNC at 709-729-8000. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or visit www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
Residents are reminded that contractors typically do not go door-to-door soliciting for services. Legitimate contractors tend to take ‘no’ for an answer. Homeowners should always verify a contractor’s credentials before entering into a service agreement and where possible never pay for a service upfront.
