Trans-Canada Highway Reopens to Traffic

(St. John’s, NL) August 14, 2025 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) advises that effective immediately, the Trans-Canada Highway has reopened to traffic.

The RNC continues to work in consultation with the Provincial Emergency Operations Centre and the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture. Motorists are advised that should conditions change the roadway may be closed again at short notice.

The evacuation orders remain in effect. Paddy’s Pond Road and Northern Pond Road remain closed.

The RNC reminds all drivers to have patience and follow the instruction of emergency personnel. For the safety of all, do not stop or exit your vehicle on a roadway.
