(St. John’s, NL) June 30, 2026 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has arrested a man witnessed on video brandishing what appeared to be a handgun.
Operational Patrol Services responded to a report of a man in possession of a firearm yesterday (June 29) in a greenspace in the Barnes Road area of St. John’s. Through the surveillance video from hours prior, 29-year-old Henry Fitzgerald was identified.
Fitzgerald was located nearby by the Weapons and Drug Enforcement Unit around 10:30 p.m. where he was arrested without incident. He appeared in court today on charges of:
- Careless use of a firearm
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Carrying a concealed weapon
- Breach of a firearms Prohibition Order
- Failing to comply with a Release Order
- Failing to comply with a Probation Order
The accused was not in possession of the firearm at the time of his arrest.
