RNC Investigating Hit-and-Run

(St. John’s, NL) July 9, 2026 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is seeking the public’s help as it investigates a two-vehicle collision in St. John’s.

At approximately 9:45 p.m. yesterday (July 8), Operational Patrol Services responded to a report of a hit-and-run in the eastbound lane of Pitts Memorial Drive, past the Kilbride exit. There were no injuries reported.

Following the collision, the suspect vehicle, described as a 2012 grey Subaru Outback with Newfoundland and Labrador license plate HXD-629, continued east where it collided with a concrete wall just before reaching downtown. Responding officers located the vehicle unoccupied with extensive front-end damage. Police Dog Services were called to the area, but officers did not locate the occupant(s).

RNC Collision Reconstructionists continue to investigate and are seeking any information, including video footage (CCTV, dash camera, cell phone), from the area in the lead up to and following the collision.
