(St. John’s, NL) September 18, 2026 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) seized one vehicle for stunting and is looking to identify the driver of another vehicle following complaints at a car rally in St. John’s.

Yesterday (Sept. 17) at approximately 8:30 p.m., Operational Patrol Services responded to a report of a traffic complaint on Kenmount Road. A concerned member of the public reported that a vehicle described as a red older-model Corvette was doing donuts in the roadway and was displaying unsafe driving behaviours at what appeared to be a local gathering of vehicles.

The responding officer patrolled the area and was unable to locate the vehicle. To deter further unsafe driving behaviours, the officer remained in a nearby parking lot where they observed a second vehicle drive on Kenmount Road at a high rate of speed, temporarily losing control. A traffic stop was initiated, and the 32-year-old male driver was issued a Summary Offence Ticket for performing stunts and his vehicle was impounded.

RNC Traffic Services are seeking the public’s help in identifying the vehicle and driver related to the initial stunting complaint. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 709-729-8000. The vehicle is described as an antique red Corvette.

The RNC continues to urge the public to report dangerous driving directly to police by calling 911.
