(Corner Brook, NL), July 7, 2023 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) have made arrests in connection with an assault, which occurred in Corner Brook on Wednesday night.
On Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at 11:25 pm, RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) received a report that an altercation had just occurred at a hotel located on West Street in Corner Brook. On arrival, responding officers located an injured male being treated by paramedics. The 19-year-old male was taken to Western Memorial Regional Hospital to seek medical support for non-life-threatening injuries. Responding officers determined that two males, who were believed to be involved in the incident, had fled the area prior to police arrival. The RNC Criminal Investigation Division (CID) were engaged to investigate the event.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, two individuals were taken into custody shortly before 3:00 am this morning in Corner Brook. A 22-year-old male from Ontario has been charged with assault causing bodily harm and assault, and a 39-year-old male form Ontario has been charged with assault causing bodily harm and assault. Both accused individuals were held in custody to appear in Provincial Court.
This investigation remains active with the RNC CID, and investigators continue to seek any information related to the event, including any video footage in the area of West Street in Corner Brook between 11:00 pm and midnight on Wednesday, July 5, 2023.
