(St. John’s, NL), September 6, 2018 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Criminal Investigation Division has identified a man alleged to have committed an armed robbery at a convenience store in Conception Bay South.
On Sunday, August 5, 2018, just before 10:30 p.m., officers with RNC’s Operational Patrol Services Division, Police Dog Services, and Forensic Identification Services responded to a report of an armed robbery at Maries Minimart at 2186 Topsail Road. Store staff advised police that a lone male entered the store and demanded cash.
The caucasian man, described as being approximately 5’10”, heavy set with a beard and being approximately 30 years old, was wearing dark ball cap and grey coat at the time of the offence. A weapon was used during the commission of the offence but there were no injuries. The suspect fled the area prior to police arrival and Police Dog Services were unable to locate the man.
Late yesterday afternoon, police located and arrested a man in connection with this robbery. The man was held to appear at Provincial Court in St. John’s today facing charges of: Robbery, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, as well as several breaches of court orders. The RNC wishes to thank the public and the media for their assistance in this investigation as several tips were received as a result of the original release.
