(St. John’s, NL) October 22, 2024 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has made an arrest in connection with a violent vehicle theft in St. John’s.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 8, Operational Patrol Services responded to a report of a vehicle theft in the area of Livingstone Street. Responding officers determined that the operator of a taxi had been assaulted by a male who then removed the operator and drove away in the vehicle. The vehicle was located by patrol officers a short time later abandoned.
The Criminal Investigation Division was engaged to investigate.
This morning, shortly after 9 a.m., 27-year-old Henry Fitzgerald of St. John’s was arrested on Lemarchant Road. The accused was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court on charges of robbery, theft of a motor vehicle, and breach of probation order. Fitzgerald also faces charges on multiple other arrest warrants.
