RNC Advising the Public of Changes to the Receipt of Criminal Record Checks During Postal Interruption

(St. John’s, NL) November 15, 2024 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is advising those with outstanding applications for a Criminal Record Screening Certificate or Vulnerable Record Check that completed record checks will be available for pickup in-person during the postal interruption.

Applicants or volunteer agencies will be notified by email when their completed record checks are available for pickup. Residents are advised not to proceed to a RNC detachment to pickup their completed record check until they receive an email confirmation.

There is no change to the application process. Applications for a Criminal Record Screening Certificate or Vulnerable Record Check must be completed online. Applications cannot be processed at an RNC detachment as payments must be completed online using the secure payment portal.

Volunteer agencies that require annual clearances, or submit a large number of applications, may wish to wait until mail services return to normal before proceeding.

The RNC continues to experience a high volume of requests for Criminal Records Screening Certificates and Vulnerable Sector Checks. Requests are processed in the order in which they are received. Please allow at least 15 business days for processing.

The RNC thanks the community for their patience and understanding.
