Arrests Made Connected to Weapons Offence

(St. John’s, NL) December 2, 2024 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) arrested two males after receiving a report of a weapons offence in St. John’s.

Just before 10 a.m. on Saturday (Nov. 30), RNC Operational Patrol Services Division responded to a residence on Field Street following a report of a weapons offence inside the home. Responding officers contained the property and engaged communication with occupants of the residence.

The RNC obtained judicial authorization to enter the property, and at 3:30 p.m., the occupants of the residence were removed from the property. Two males were placed under arrest in connection with the investigation.

The two males were held in custody to appear in Provincial Court in relation to the following charges:

Justin Harvey, 34

  • Assault
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm with knowledge it is unauthorized
  • Possessing a weapon with ammunition
  • Possessing a weapon obtained by crime
  • Breach of a firearm prohibition
  • Breach of probation order

Gamachu Hassan, 19

  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possessing a weapon with ammunition
