RNC, Emergency Responders Complete Rescue
(Corner Brook, NL) January 20, 2025 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) and emergency responders completed a rescue in the area of Irishtown-Summerside on Sunday.
At approximately 1:40 p.m. on Sunday (Jan. 19), RNC Operational Patrol Services responded to a report of a medical emergency in a wooded area near Hann’s Lookout. With the help of passerby who was travelling on an off-road vehicle, officers quickly located the two individuals. The Bay of Islands Search and Rescue Team was then engaged to arrange a helicopter transport.
The 64-year-old man was successfully removed from the wooded area by helicopter and transferred to an ambulance for transport to Western Memorial Regional Hospital.
The success of this rescue highlights the importance of travelling with a mobile device and having first aid. The RNC would like to thank all responding agencies for their efforts.
