(St. John’s, NL) April 18, 2025 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is warning the general public and businesses in the community of counterfeit Canadian $100.00 bills being circulated in the metro region.
The bills appear to be movie production money with poor paper quality and spelling errors. Please see the attached photos.
Anyone in possession of a suspected counterfeit bill or encounters a person attempting to use the counterfeit bill as legitimate money, is asked to contact the RNC immediately at (709) 729-8000.
The RNC reminds the community that checking money protects everyone, and by checking your money we can keep counterfeit bills out of the cashier’s till, and out of your change. Please visit the Bank of Canada website for more information on counterfeit protection.
Anyone who witnesses suspicious activity is encouraged to report it directly to police by calling 709-729-8000. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or visit www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
