RNC in Labrador City Arrest Suspect After Flight from Police

(Labrador City, NL) June 4, 2025 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) in Labrador City arrested a driver after attempting to evade police.

On Wednesday (June 4), at approximately 1:00 a.m., RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) attempted to conduct a traffic stop near Grenfell Drive, Wabush, after a vehicle swerved into oncoming traffic toward a marked police vehicle. The driver failed to stop and fled from police at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was located a second time and again fled from police. Once the driver was identified, RNC located the vehicle at a residence in Labrador City.

The 38-year-old male operator has been charged with flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and refusal, as well as issued a summary offence ticket for excessive speeding and had his driver’s license suspended. The accused was released to appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
