(St. John’s, NL), August 8, 2025 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Criminal Investigation Division are investigating after human remains were located in St. John’s.
On Wednesday (August 6), at approximately 1:30 p.m., RNC Operational Patrol Services responded to a report of a deceased person located in a small clearing near the Three Pond Barrens trail. Responding officers were accompanied by paramedics, and confirmed the human remains. The RNC Criminal Investigation Division were engaged to conduct an investigation.
At this stage, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, supported by the Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador Anthropology Department, are conducting an analysis of the human remains. The deceased has not yet been identified, but is believed to be male.
There is no risk to public safety connected to this event, as the death is not believed to be suspicious.
