Emergency Responders Answer the Call for Blood Donations

(St. John’s, NL) November 5, 2025 – Recognizing the importance of donating blood, emergency responders are rolling up their sleeves to give the gift of life.

The annual Sirens for Life campaign with Canadian Blood Services takes place tomorrow (Nov. 6). This year’s participating organizations include:

  • Royal Newfoundland Constabulary
  • Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Newfoundland and Labrador
  • St. John’s Regional Fire Department
  • NL Health Services members from Paramedicine and Medical Transport and Medical Communications divisions
  • Newfoundland and Labrador Search and Rescue Association

Media are invited to Canadian Blood Services, 7 Wicklow Street in St. John’s at 10 a.m. to speak with participating agencies. Please RSVP to media@rnc.gov.nl.ca.

The need for blood and plasma is rising rapidly and patients are counting on eligible donors across Canada to donate this fall. Donations save lives, and change so many more. If you’ve never donated, there is no better time to start. Book an appointment online at blood.ca, use the GiveBlood app or call 1-888-2-DONATE (1-888-236-6283).
