RNC Investigating New Year’s Day Firearm Offence

(St. John’s, NL) January 2, 2026 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is investigating a New Year’s Day shooting.

Yesterday (Jan. 1) around 1:20 a.m., Operational Patrol Services responded to a disturbance at Buckmaster’s Rotary Park on Buckmaster’s Circle. Responding officers located a 23-year-old male with an injury consistent with a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital for further treatment of the non-life-threatening injury. There’s no information to suggest this was a random attack.

The RNC Criminal Investigation Division was engaged and officers are actively investigating the matter. No charges have been laid.
