RNC Charge Man with St. John’s Shooting

(St. John’s, NL) February 12, 2026 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has charged a man with attempted murder following an August shooting in St. John’s.

On Aug. 14, 2025, Operational Patrol Services responded to a shooting at a commercial area of Ropewalk Lane where officers located a 40-year-old man with gunshot wounds. Throughout the day, police received reports of erratic driving and hit-and-run collisions involving a pick-up truck that matched the description of that seen fleeing the scene of the shooting. Investigators identified Dylan Walsh as the driver of the vehicle and he and a co-accused were arrested and charged on Aug. 20 with a long list of driving and firearms offences.

The Major Crime Unit continued to investigate the shooting and have since linked Walsh to the offence. The 27-year-old was scheduled to appear in court today charged with attempted murder.

Walsh will also face additional charges for an unrelated matter after he was located inside a vacant property on July 21 in St. John’s where a firearm and ammunition were seized.

The RNC encourages anyone who witnesses suspicious activity to report it directly to police by calling 709-729-8000. Crimes in progress should be reported by contacting 911. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or visit www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
