(Corner Brook, NL) March 9, 2026 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) conducted a safety checkpoint for snowmobiles in the Corner Brook Region over the weekend.
On Saturday (March 7), RNC officers in the Corner Brook region, in partnership with Conservation Officers of the Resource Enforcement Division, conducted a safety checkpoint for snowmobile operators. The initiative was held on a groomed trail near Cooks Brook where over 150 snowmobiles were stopped and checked for compliance. RNC officers issued six summary offence tickets.
By law valid registration and insurance is required to operate a snowmobile and adult supervision is required for users under the age of 16.
ATV routes as designated by some municipalities permit only designated machines during certain hours of the day and year. By working together, we can help prevent accidents and keep people safe.
The RNC continues to urge the public to report unsafe driving behaviours directly to police. Anyone with information is asked to call 911. To report anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or visit www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
