(St. John’s, NL) May 15, 2026 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is reminding motorists of the importance of safe driving ahead of the Victoria Day long weekend.
As motorists travel throughout the province’s roadways this long weekend the RNC want to ensure safety is the priority. Drivers are reminded to reduce speeds, drive to the road conditions, and leave a safe distance between vehicles. For those using off-road vehicles, riders are encouraged to enjoy doing so responsibly by wearing helmets, avoiding unfamiliar terrain, and checking road conditions in advance. Remember, riders under 16 years of age must be supervised.
All motorists are reminded to never drive impaired or distracted.
If you suspect impaired driving or observe the unsafe operation of any vehicle, please call 911. To report anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or visit www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
