(St. John’s, NL) June 8, 2026 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) made an arrest in St. John’s in relation to a firearms investigation.
On May 27, the RNC received information that Adam Young was unlawfully in possession of firearms. The Weapons and Drugs Enforcement Unit (WDEU) launched an investigation and Saturday afternoon (June 6), Young was arrested without incident on New Cove Road with the assistance of the Tactics and Rescue Unit.
As part of the ongoing investigation, the WDEU executed a search warrant at a residence on Watson Street where a loaded firearm and ammunition were seized. The 38-year-old was held to appear in court on the following charges:
- Careless Use of a Firearm
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Failure to Comply with a Release Order
The RNC continues to encourage anyone who witnesses suspicious activity to report it directly to police by calling 709-729-8000. Crimes in progress should be reported by contacting 911.
