RNC Charge Driver Following Fatal Collision

(St. John’s, NL) June 23, 2026 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has charged a man following a fatal impaired driving collision in St. John’s.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on June 12, Operational Patrol Services responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision near the intersection of Mayor Avenue and Newtown Road. There were four people in the vehicle at the time of the collision; a 24-year-old succumbed to his injuries. The three others were transported to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Accident Investigation section was engaged and today (June 23), Collision Reconstructionists charged 21-year-old Koushik Ghosh with the following:

  • Impaired Driving Causing Death
  • Two counts of Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm
  • Dangerous Operation Causing Death
  • Two counts of Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm
  • Two counts of Operating a conveyance with a blood alcohol concentration that is equal to or exceeds 80 mg of alcohol in 100 mL of blood and Causing Bodily Harm
  • Operating a conveyance with a blood alcohol concentration that is equal to or exceeds 80 mg of alcohol in 100 mL of blood and Causing Death

The RNC is offering sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
