(St. John’s, NL), May 3, 2024 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) arrested a man in connection with weapons and drug offences in Mount Pearl.
On Thursday (May 2) at approximately 10:30 p.m., the RNC’s Weapons and Drug Enforcement Unit with support from patrol services, conducted a traffic stop on Heavy Tree Road in Mount Pearl where a man and woman were taken into custody.
Officers located a loaded 9mm Glock handgun, a loaded 0.45 caliber Glock handgun, a bullet-proof vest, one ounce of substance believed to be cocaine and $6,115.00 in cash.
Twenty-two-year-old Brandon Chafe of Mount Pearl is being held in custody to appear in Provincial Court in relation to the following charges:
- Two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Two counts of possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition
- Two counts of careless use or storage of a firearm
- Two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Two counts of possession of a firearm with knowledge possession is unauthorized
- Two counts of possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- Two counts of breach of a release order
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking
The woman was released from custody pending further investigation.
