(St. John’s, NL) June 12, 2026 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is investigating a fatal impaired driving collision in St. John’s.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. today, Operational Patrol Services responded to a report of a single-vehicle roll-over near the intersection of Mayor Avenue and Newtown Road. There were four people in the vehicle at the time of the collision; one succumbed to injuries. The three others were transported to hospital for what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver failed a roadside screening test and was issued a license suspension. A criminal investigation is ongoing. No further details can be released at this time. The RNC is offering sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
RNC collision reconstructionists are seeking any witnesses or video footage (CCTV, dash-camera, cell phone) from the area in the lead up to or immediately following the collision. Anyone with information is asked to contact the RNC at 709-729-8000.
