( John’s, NL) June 19, 2026 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has arrested a wanted man after receiving a traffic complaint from a concerned citizen.
At approximately 10:15 a.m. yesterday (June 18), the RNC received a complaint from a member of the public concerning a speeding vehicle on Legion Road in Conception Bay South. Operational Patrol Services located the vehicle and identified the male operator as 39-year-old Matthew Scott.

Scott was held to appear in court on three counts of driving while prohibited in relation to the most recent events, in addition to outstanding warrants in RNC jurisdiction for failing to appear and driving while prohibited. Scott was also wanted on an RCMP warrant for charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited and failing to comply with release order conditions.
The RNC continues to urge the public to report dangerous and impaired driving directly to police by calling 911. To report anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or visit nlcrimestoppers.com.
