RNC Charge Man Following Disturbance

(St. John’s, NL) September 17, 2026 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has charged a man with weapons offences following a disturbance in a St. John’s neighborhood.

The RNC received numerous reports of an altercation involving a man wielding a machete just after 8 a.m. today. Operational Patrol Services descended on the east end and located a male matching the suspect description in the Penney Crescent area. The other male involved was located by officers at a home nearby. There were no reported injuries. The pair were known to one another.

Through the course of the investigation officers located the machete that had been discarded during the scuffle and determined a vehicle had been damaged.

Brayden Burbridge, 19, is now facing charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and property damage.

The RNC encourages anyone who witnesses suspicious activity to report it directly to police by calling 709-729-8000. Crimes in progress should be reported by contacting 911.
