(St. John’s, NL) November 6, 2026 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is investigating multiple hit-and-run collisions involving two suspect drivers in Torbay.
Shortly after 8 p.m. yesterday (Nov. 5) the RNC received two reports of motor-vehicle collisions that happened along Torbay Road; the first at the intersection with Manning’s Hill Road and the next at the intersection with Bauline Line. Both described a fleeing black Dodge Ram. Operational Patrol Services located the heavily damaged truck abandoned near Martin’s Lane and called Police Dog Services and a drone operator to assist in a search for the driver.
While still on scene, the RNC received two additional reports of hit-and-runs involving a black Honda Civic in the Evening’s Path area that happened around 8:30 p.m. In this case, a member of the public whose vehicle had been struck by the suspect vehicle gave chase and an altercation ensued once the pair reached a dead end. The male suspect took off on foot. Again, Police Dog Services and a drone operator were deployed to assist.
In total, five vehicles were towed from the area, two were seized as part of the investigation, and one person was sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No arrests have been made. At this stage in the investigation, the two incidents do not appear to be related.
RNC Collision Reconstructionists are seeking any witnesses or video footage of the events (CCTV, dash camera, cell phone) from the area encompassed by Torbay Road, Evening’s Path, the Torbay Bypass, and Bauline Line between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. Thursday.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the RNC at 709-729-8000.
