(St. John’s, NL) September 18, 2026 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has charged a woman following a stabbing in downtown St. John’s.

Operational Patrol Services responded to an assault on Brazil Street in the early morning hours yesterday (Sept. 17) where they found a man with significant injuries. He was transported to hospital for treatment. A female suspect who was known to the victim had fled the area prior to police arrival. The Major Crime Unit was engaged to investigate.

A 42-year-old woman was located and taken into custody this afternoon on charges of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and uttering threats. She has been held for court.

The RNC encourages anyone who witnesses suspicious activity to report it directly to police by calling 709-729-8000. Crimes in progress should be reported by contacting 911.
