(St. John’s, NL) June 3, 2026 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) made an arrest following a shelter-in-place in Mount Pearl.
On Tuesday (June 2) at approximately 5 p.m., Operational Patrol Services responded to a report of a weapons offence inside a residence on Sauve Street. A shelter-in-place was issued, as responding officers believed the male occupant was in possession of a firearm. With the assistance of the Tactics and Rescue Unit and the RCMP’s Emergency Response Team, 28-year-old Colton Collier was taken into custody without incident shortly before 1 a.m. today. The shelter-in-place was lifted shortly thereafter.
A search warrant has been executed by the RNC Criminal Investigation Division where two firearms, ammunition, a knife, and a crossbow were seized. The investigation is ongoing.
Collier was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court today on charges of:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
- Carelessly Using a Firearm
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Breaching Firearms Regulations
- Failure to Comply with a Release Order
The RNC continues to encourage anyone who witnesses suspicious activity to report it directly to police by calling 709-729-8000. Crimes in progress should be reported by contacting 911.
