(St. John’s, NL) June 18, 2026 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has seized a firearm and arrested two people in St. John’s.
The RNC Weapons and Drugs Enforcement Unit (WDEU), with the assistance of the Tactics and Rescue Unit supported by the RCMP Emergency Response Team, Operational Patrol Services, Criminal Investigation Division, and Police Dog Services, executed a warrant at a home on Hatcher Street today.
Schools in the area were notified of the planned operation, and a shelter-in-place directive was issued for Hatcher Street and the section of University Avenue between Hatcher and Paton Streets. The shelter-in-place was lifted just after 12 p.m.
As a result of the operation, 10 people exited the property; two of whom were wanted on outstanding warrants. A search of the residence led to the seizure of a small quantity of pills, drug paraphernalia including scales, and an imitation handgun.
The investigation is ongoing.
