Newly Sworn Officers Join the RNC Ranks

September 14, 2023

(St. John’s, NL), September 14, 2023 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has officially welcomed 17 new officers to the police service with a swearing-in ceremony.

On Monday (Sept. 11), surrounded by family, friends, and new colleagues, 17 cadets were sworn-in as constables of the RNC. The ceremony was a follow-up to the graduation event that occurred at the Atlantic Police Academy in Prince Edward Island just a few weeks ago. Officers took the oath of office in which they committed to “preserve the peace, prevent offences, faithfully, honestly and impartially discharge” their duties as a police officer. They were presented their breast shields by Chief Patrick Roche, Deputy Chief Colin McNeil and Deputy Chief Stephanie Lagace.

“As a provincial police agency, the RNC has worked hard to develop a policing standard that our communities can rely on. On behalf of the uniformed and civilian members of the RNC, I welcome our newest officers to the family. I am excited to see the growth of our newest officers and see the role they will play to increase public safety in the province”.

The recruit constables will be assigned a coach officer and next month begin patrol as they start their careers ‘Building Safe and Healthy Communities Together’.
